Now, the moonroof is cracked, the power locks are busted and it has no headunit. My father added aftermarket audio to it, with a dashcover. All power features, moon roof, bench seats, automatic transmission. Next, originally, the interior was virtually top of the line, and all-maroon to match the paint. I was wondering if I should re-paint it the original maroon with white or black decals to keep maximum value and originality, or go with black with white or silver decals. The body is still very straight, but the front nose may need to be replaced. Now, the car was repainted a dull maroon to disguise it, with no decals. It came in a sparkling Maroon with white SS decals on each door, the front nose, and tailgate. Originally, this car was top of the line. I don't have any pictures of the car right now (it is in South Florida, I'm in Tallahassee) but I will give a brief discription. I'm here to ask for as much advice on what I will need to do to bring this car back, spend as litle as possible, and make it as valuable as possible (with no intention of selling, just want to maximize the value of this rare find). This week, my dad is signing the title over to me as the first step toward restoring it. Since my brother purchased an '80 SS all-original and brought it to beauty about a year ago, I've been thinking about restoring my dads, and I've finally decided now is the time. Now, at 19, I'm ready to bring it back to its original glory. I had wanted this car since I was 7-years-old, but became discouraged when it was returned in '02 (then 11-years-old). Since we recovered the car, it's basically been a sitting duck in the driveway, rarely driven. Three years later, they found it in a chop shop in Miami, stripped down of all the chrome with 100K miles on it, totally beat. We had the car in showroom condition for years, up until the day it was stolen back in '99 (with 55K miles). My father bought an '87 El Camino SS Choo Choo Custom brand new off the showroom floor, and has owned it everyday since.
